Common questions
Karkardooma Court — common questions
What kinds of cases are heard at Karkardooma Court?
Karkardooma Court hears civil, criminal and family cases for the East, North East and Shahdara districts. That includes bail applications and criminal trials, cheque bounce complaints under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, civil and property suits within the district courts' ₹2 crore limit, and family cases. Our advocates act at Karkardooma mainly in criminal defence and bail, and also in cheque bounce and civil matters.
Which areas does Karkardooma Court cover?
Karkardooma Court covers the East, North East and Shahdara districts of Delhi. A criminal case comes here when the FIR was registered at a police station in one of those districts; a civil or property case when the property lies or the cause of action arose there. If you are unsure, send us the FIR or the property address and we will confirm the court before anything is filed.
Where can I meet your advocates for a matter at Karkardooma Court?
You can meet our advocates at our principal chamber, S-307, 3rd Floor, Delhi High Court, Pragati Vihar, New Delhi 110003. The firm appears at Karkardooma but has no chamber or office in that complex, so we do not hold consultations there; we meet clients at the court only around a hearing. For clients in East Delhi, a first consultation by phone or video call is often the quickest start, with papers sent by WhatsApp or email. Call or WhatsApp 99115 44811, or email manujalawyers@gmail.com (Mon–Sat, 9:30 am – 6:30 pm), to fix a time.
Where is a bail application made after an arrest in East Delhi?
After an arrest in the East, North East or Shahdara district, regular bail is usually sought first from the Magistrate under Section 480 BNSS, and from the Sessions Court under Section 483 BNSS if it is refused or the offence is too serious for the Magistrate; both sit at Karkardooma. If the Sessions Court refuses, the next step is the Delhi High Court. Anticipatory bail before an arrest is sought under Section 482 BNSS.
